About The Chevy Tahoe
Overview
First introduced in 1995, the Chevrolet Tahoe has remained in constant production ever since, going through four different generations. It was originally introduced as a midsized alternative to the full-size Chevrolet Suburban, and shared the same GMT400 platform but had a smaller wheelbase by nearly 20 inches (111.5-inch for the two-door model, 117.5in for the four-door) compared to the 131-inch Surburban.
The most recent generation is the fourth (2015 - present), and in its current guise the Chevrolet Tahoe comes packing either a 5.3L or 6.2L Vortec V8 engine, punching out 355 horsepower and 420 horsepower respectively, and is available in 2WD and 4WD variants. Changes from the third-generation to all fourth-generation models include a redesigned look with a chrome front grille sweeping into the front fenders and a direct-injection EcoTec3 powertrain.
The current-generation Chevrolet Tahoe prides itself on combining a do-anything go-anywhere SUV with spacious, comfortable interior and a consistently wide variety of in-car entertainment and technology options across trim levels. For big families, frequent travelers, and those with a lot of stuff to get from A to B, the Chevrolet Tahoe is definitely worth considering.

Reviews for Chevrolet Tahoe
Good deal, but ask questions (see icons above)
gm has been in the large sub business for quite a while. the tahoe is a long running nameplate. the tech is great if you have had minimal in the past . the ride is truck-firm but car comfortable,
Pros
- Technology and Entertainment: much more tech than we have ever had
- Visibility: no real blind spots
My fear of buying used cars is over
I’m loving the third row for times when I pick up guests from the airport or take my teen kids places. The drop down screen for dvds is awesome and gets everyone involved on the same activity for a change.
Pros
- Ride and Handling:
- Power:
- Weather Versatility:
Cons
- Fuel Economy: Gas is a great price right now - and the extra gas is worth the size and power
- Seat Comfort: Not quite sure what my setting is yet.
The best SUV
This is my second Tahoe, I have own other makes of SUVs and this Tahoe are by far the best. Other than some minor issues with door actuators and power side mirrors most visits to the dealership have been for regular maintenance.Powerful engine, great to tackle winter snow months in Colorado with the 4X4. Gas consumption, although best in class, is a little high specially if you do your driving mainly within the city, however the flex fuel option allow you to use the cheap gas.
Pros
- Cost to Maintain:
- Value:
- Reliability:
Cons
- Fuel Economy:
