About The Dodge Challenger
Overview
When it comes to modern muscle, the Dodge Challenger makes a compelling purchase. Introduced in 2008, the two-door coupe follows closely in the footsteps of its classic predecessors, offering varying degrees of muscle without sacrificing comfort. The Dodge Challenger saw a significant refresh in 2015, gaining a refreshed grille with headlights featuring quad LED halo rings, new LED tail lights and a revamped interior with an 8.4-inch touchscreen display and retro-styled gauges.

Popular Trims
The 2013-2018 Dodge Challenger comes in a staggering number of trims, making the possibilities seemingly endless when it comes to buying this piece of American muscle. Here’s a brief look at some of the popular trims offered during this generation:
SXT
The SXT represents the base trim of the 2013-2018 Dodge Challenger. SXT models feature the 3.6L Pentastar® V6 engine, dual-zone automatic climate control, Bluetooth® capabilities, power driver’s seat and heated mirrors. Other standard features include:
- Cloth seat trim
- Driver’s seat lumbar support
- Remote keyless entry
GT
Introduced for the 2017 model year, the GT trim brings all-wheel drive to the table. The all-wheel drive system also features a front-axle disconnect. The GT trim offers many of the same features as the SXT along with several features, including:
- 3.6L Pentastar V6 engine
- Suspension shared with Dodge Charger Pursuit
- Uconnect® 4C NAV with 8.4-inch touchscreen
R/T
The R/T trim offers plenty of significant upgrades, including the addition of the 5.7L HEMI® V8 engine, rated at 372 hp with the eight-speed automatic or 375 hp when paired with the six-speed manual transmission. Other features include:
- Available Brembo® four-piston brakes
- Upgraded suspension
- Sport exhaust system
- Available Shaker hood with cold-air intake
R/T Scat Pack
The R/T Scat Pack kicks things up a notch, thanks in large part to the 485 hp 6.4L HEMI V8 engine that resides in place of the R/T trim’s more pedestrian 5.7L mill. Other features include:
- Premium cloth or Nappa leather seats
- Dodge Performance Pages
- Three-season performance tires
- High-performance suspension with Bilstein® shocks
SRT 392
As the name implies, the SRT 392 features the 485 hp 6.4L HEMI V8 found in the R/T Scat Pack, but adds a few suspension and brake upgrades for added performance.
- Adaptive suspension damping system
- Performance disc brakes with six-piston front and four-piston rear calipers
- Unique SRT 392 badging
SRT Hellcat
The SRT Hellcat was introduced in 2015, replacing the high-performance SRT-8 trim. The Dodge Challenger SRT Hellcat features a supercharged 6.2L SRT Hellcat HEMI V8 rated at 707 hp. The SRT Hellcat also features:
- 3.70 axle ratio with heavy-duty antispin
- Leather-trimmed seats with Hellcat logo
- Illuminated “air catcher” headlamps
SRT Demon
Unveiled in 2018, the SRT Demon is the top dog of the Dodge Challenger lineup. This unique trim features an 840 hp version of the supercharged 6.2L SRT Hellcat HEMI V8 along with a few other goodies. It’s also the only Challenger that comes with only a driver’s seat – the passenger seat and rear bench seat are optional features. Other features for this trim include:
- Active Drag Mode
- Line Lock
- After-run chiller
- SRT Power Chiller

Reviews for Dodge Challenger
Lots of repairs done out of pocket
Have the car since October 2020 and it had left me stranded once, a ticket because of my brake light was out, and been in the shop twice already of course after the warranty was over!
Pros
- Styling: Looks nice
Cons
- Reliability: Have the car less than 5 months now and Ive been having nightmare with it
- Cost to Maintain: Parts and labor are costly
Great Car
I have owned multiple sports cars. I traded a corvette when I purchased the Challenger. This car is a blast. It is the R/T Shaker with the 5.7. The power is excellent and it handles like my Vett. I’m very happy with the car. There is plenty of room inside and you have plenty of storage. This car constantly turns heads. I am very happy with the car and will buy another.
Pros
- Ride and Handling: The car handles and rides like it’s on rails
- Braking: Four wheel disc brake stop on a dime
Great ride!
The attention and looks I receive never stop. This car is fun to drive!
Pros
- Styling:
- Cargo Space:
- Power:
